XML to InDesign to the Web

Everyone has a presswide database (PWD).

Most are using InDesign to layout their content.

How do we export stuff from the PWD to do something in InDesign--like a catalog, etc.

We'll use Filemaker Pro, but really it should work with any PWD.

First Steps

1. Gather the titles in a list.

2. Select which descriptive text elements (like catalog text elements) you want to export.

3. Make sure you've define the paragraph style appropriately. (See below.) Paragraph means needs a hard return at the end of the text.

4. You want to make sure the style names in InDesign match the tags in the XML, so you can say "match tags to styles."
