Eliminating Plug-In requirements

From AAUP-Wiki

(e.g. Sonar Bookends)

Some plug-ins (e.g. Sonar Bookends InFnote) place into the InDesign file the requirement that the plug-in must always be present to print or PDF the file. To remove the requirement:

1. Open the file that requests the plug-in (through the Book Palette, if appropriate).

2. Select File > Export and change the Format to “InDesign Interchange” (a *.inx file).

3. Save the .inx file.

4. Close the offending file and move it to the trash.

5. In a copy of InDesign that does not have the plug-in installed, open the newly created .inx file . It will automatically convert to a new Untitled InDesign file.

6. Save the new Untitled file with the old file’s name to the correct location.

7. In the Book Palette highlight the old (bad) file and use the flyout to Replace the old file with the newly created file.

8. Save the Book. You can now create a PDF.
